"No such feature exists" after updating our licens

Post by ThomasAnthony95661 » Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:06 pm

Howdy,

We just updated our license (and management daemon) to support version 18.5 from version 17.7 and now any type of compilation fails reporting "No such feature exists".

Both client and server are running on Linux. I've verified that the license.dat file is in UNIX format.

Code: Select all

$ pgfortran -acc -fastsse -O3 -ta=multicore -Minfo -c hello-world.f90

pgfortran: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Failed to checkout license
pgfortran: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Failed to checkout license
pgfortran: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Failed to checkout license
pgfortran: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: Failed to checkout license
pgfortran: LICENSE MANAGER PROBLEM: No such feature exists.
Feature: pgfortran
License path: /share/apps/rc/software/PGI/18.5-GCC-6.4.0-2.28/license.dat:
FlexNet Licensing error:-5,147
The license file has the features:

Code: Select all

pgi-prof-lin32 pgi-dbg-lin64 pgi-dbg-lin32 pghpf pgfortran \
This is what the license server reports:

Hi Thomas,

I'd like to help you out with this issue. But I'd prefer to open an email dialogue so I don't post any private information publicly.

Contact support@pgroup.com with reference to this post. Or, with your permission, I can reach out to you at your email address we have on file.

Resolved:

aglobus identified the issue. Although we were using a FlexLM license server, the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable was incorrectly pointing at a local copy of license.dat (which also happened to be a version 17 license file with the wrong product serial hashes).

The variable should have been pointing at the server:

export LM_LICENSE_FILE=27000@192.168.10.10

Hi Thomas,

When you say

"The variable should have been pointing at the server:

export LM_LICENSE_FILE=27000@192.168.10.10"

here earlier you were using localhost because of which the issue was coming?

and now, you are using the hostname of the server (which is mentioned in the license key) or the IP address of the server?

We are also facing the same issue and we are using 27000@localhost. Please help.

any other suggestion would be most welcome
