How to generate shared library by using pgcc?

Post by Covariance2 » Mon Mar 23, 2020 3:30 am

Hi,
I found the pgcc (Version 19.10) can not generate shared library (libz.so) in compiling the zlib (zlib-1.2.11) on my Macbook (OS X 10.9.5). As the configure results show that "No shared library support; try without defining CC and CFLAGS".

The "libz.a" can be generated though.

But, I'm really confused that the pgcc can not generate shared library "libz.so)". Is anybody has the opinion on how to generate the shared library?

Cheers,
Peter

Hi,

OS X 10.9.5 is a pretty old version of macOS. Is updating to Mojave or something more recent possible? I know that for 10.9 on my macbook I had to use PGI 16.

And is this problem just for zlib or all shared libraries? Can you build any shared library outside of zlib?
