Hi,I'm not sure I put my installing questions in this section is correctly.
I have two quesTIONS:
1. After I installed PGI accelerator workstation license with root privileges, I set host name in the / etc / sysconfig / network correctly and restart ,then I add the $ PGI, $ LM_LISCENSE_FILE environment variable. As I know I need use lmgrd.rc start or lmgrd –c $LM_LISCENSE_FILE for activation ,but I got such information:
(lmgrd) The license server manager (lmgrd) running as root:
(lmgrd) This is a potential security problem and is not recommended.
(lmgrd) Unknown host :gpuK20
(lmgrd) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 33 Exit reason 1
I have to add my machine's IP and hostname to /etc/hosts ,the problems were sovled then, but I want to know the reason. |

The security risk is, according to IT, minor and has to do with file a system file access.
They recommend that for auto-reboot, the owner of lmgrd in init.d area not be root
to avoid the message.
$ LM_LICENSE_FILE is the generic name for the license location or port@host name.
The hostname in the license file (gpuK20?) should be mapped to the IPAddress of
gpuK20, so that
% ping gpuK20
has the same value as
% lmutil lmhostid -internet
and in the best cases, this IPaddress is tied to the Network device
(% /sbin/ifconfig) that has the MAC that is the hostid in your license. |
