Hi All,
I have installed the old PGI compiler 5.2 on my Xeon-processor based server with a new configuration of RHEL 5.4, gcc 4.1.2 and glibc 2.5. During the whole installation process, not any error messages or warnings appears. However, when I executed the command of "pgf90 -V -c x.f", the following error pops up:
------------------------------
[root@localhost tmp]# pgf90 -V -c x.f
pgf90-Info-RC file /usr/local/pgi-5.2/linux86-64/5.2/bin/.pgf90rc line 40: Include file localrc not found

Then, I tried to find the position of localrc by using the command of "locate localrc", but localrc is not found out in my system.

I also noted that the following error occurs:
[root@ localhost bin]# makelocalrc -x /usr/local/pgi-5.2/linux86-64/5.2/
ERROR: unknown glibc version (2.5).

I suspected that this is due to the incompatability of pgi.5.2 and RHEL 5.4.

Does anybody know how to solve the problem?

Thank you very much.

Tang

Hi Tang,

For a list of supported OS by compiler version please see: https://www.pgroup.com/support/install.htm#linux_info

PGI release 5.2 is quite old so is not expected to install on the latest versions of Linux. You'll need to downgrade your OS or upgrade your compiler.

Thanks,
Mat
