Hi, My os is fedora 10, when I install the program pgi 7.0-7. I get the following error message:

Installing software into /opt/pgi (this may take some time).
#############

unknown glibc version 2.9; treating like 2.4
ERROR: gcc not found
successful use of compilers requires existence of gcc libraries

can you help me??

Hi Kari,

I'm not positive since I don't use Fedora myself, but I think the command you need is something like "yum install gcc". If this doesn't work and you're using a GUI, open your package manager and search for gcc.

I have the same problem with 9.0-4 installation on OpenSuse 11.1.

You have to install gcc library. I did it and problem vanished.
