MPI Development Tools for HPC Clusters

The PGI CDK® Cluster Development Kit® compilers and development tools enable use of networked clusters of AMD or Intel x64 processor-based workstations and servers to tackle serious scientific computing applications. For Linux, the PGI CDK includes pre-configured versions of MPI for Ethernet or InfiniBand, and a pre-configured batch queueing system. On Windows Compute Cluster Server (CCS), the PGI CDK integrates with MSMPI and the job scheduler to enable development, debugging and tuning of high-performance MPI or hybrid MPI/OpenMP applications written in Fortran, C or C++.

At the heart of the PGI CDK package are the PGF95™ Fortran 95 compiler; the PGF77® FORTRAN 77 compiler; the PGCC® ANSI C compiler; and the PGC++® ISO/ANSI-compliant C++ compiler. All of these compilers support automatic parallelization for SMP systems using a simple compiler switch, and full native support for OpenMP directive-based SMP programming.

In addition to the full suite of parallel language compilers, the PGI CDK features the PGDBG OpenMP/MPI graphical cluster debugger and the PGPROF OpenMP/MPI graphical cluster performance profiler.

PGI offers the only 64-bit and 32-bit parallel compilers, debugger and profiler available with integrated parallelization support. This results in faster development, higher performance and much higher reliability. Also, with PGI CDK there are no parallel runtime fees of any kind—the executables produced by the PGI compilers can be executed on any compatible system regardless of whether the PGI compilers are installed.
