PGI Workstation class products offer a single user node-locked license for use with Linux, Apple OS X or Microsoft Windows operating systems. Volume packs of five or more single user node-locked licenses are also available. Volume packs are multi-platform; licenses may be any mix of operating system up to the maximum count. PGI Server class products offer the same features as PGI Workstation but include a multi-user network floating license. All PGI for-fee licenses are perpetual; they do not expire.
PGI Subscription Service provides for ongoing support, free updates and other benefits. New licenses include complimentary PGI Subscription Service during the 30 day money-back guarantee period. Extensions are available and sold in yearly increments up to a maximum term of three years. A valid PGI license is required to purchase PGI Subscription Service.
For most products, individual licenses are available for Linux, Apple OS X or Microsoft Windows. For some products, multiple operating system options are also available. See the Product Comparison and Licensing Options for a summary of product features and license types.
PLEASE NOTE: PGI Visual Fortran® is available for Microsoft Windows only. A license for PVF® is included with all PGI Fortran products for Windows. It may also be purchased separately.
All PGI compilers can target (i.e. build binaries for) 64-bit x64 systems or 32-bit x86 systems with one or more single core or multi-core microprocessors. Building 64-bit binaries requires an x64 system running a 64-bit operating system.
PLEASE NOTE: 32-bit support is deprecated with PGI Release 2016 and will be discontinued in PGI Release 2017.
In addition, PGI also offers separate products that can target systems containing 64-bit x64 processors along with GPU accelerators from AMD or NVIDIA (x64+accelerator). Referred to collectively as "PGI Accelerator" products, they include support for the directive-based OpenACC programming model targeting accelerators, CUDA Fortran and CUDA-x86. PGI Accelerator compilers are supported on all x64 processor-based systems running Linux, OS X or Windows. Supported accelerators include CUDA-enabled NVIDIA GPUs and select AMD Radeon GPUs.
PLEASE NOTE: PGI Accelerator support on OS X is deprecated with PGI Release 2016 and will be discontinued in PGI Release 2017.
OpenACC support for targeting multi-core x64 CPUs as an accelerator device is included in both the x64-only and x64+accelerator products.
Accelerator enabled executables can run without modification on non-accelerator enabled hosts.
